My Co-op Experience at MPI/ UTokyo

Why did you apply for this placement?
I wanted to try research in the fields of materials. The job posting seemed like a perfect opportunity.

What recommendations do you have for students who wish to participate in this exchange program?

I would recommend that if you like repetitive measurements, then this job is perfect for you. This job is a true indication of how tedious research could get and I would not recommend spending 8 months on this project. 4 month is sufficient to get a handle on the experimental procedures and data analysis.

Tell us about your travels and cultural experiences
It was an amazing experience. I took a week of break from work and traveled around Hiroshima, Osaka, Nara and Kyoto. I got to see so many temples, eat so much amazing food and just really experience what Japan was like.
